Tata Consultancy Services’ Largest Interschool IT Quiz Contest Saw Over 9,900 Students Participate From across the Country in the First Ever Virtual Edition

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, announced the winners of the National Finals of TCS IT Wiz 2020, India’s biggest interschool IT quiz competition.

Abishek Agarwal from GD Goenka Public School, Siliguri, walked away with the TCS IT Wiz Championship title and was awarded a trophy along with a gold medal, winner’s certificate and a gift voucher worth Rs 30,000. The runner up of the National Finals, Rithin Nagaraj from Little Flower Public School, Bengaluru, received an e-voucher worth Rs 20,000 along with a silver medaland trophy.

The 22nd edition of TCS IT Wiz witnessed participation from over 9,900 students of class 8-12 from across the country. Of these, 128 participants qualified for the Pre-Quarters, and 64 for the Quarter Finals and 16 reached the Semi Finals to compete for the top 4 National Final slots. Students from tier II and tier III cities continued to dominate in terms of participation and stole the show.

The chief guest, N G Subramaniam, COO, TCS, said, “At TCS we believe in life-long learning and empowering communities with learning and knowledge, with initiatives like TCS IT Wiz. It has been admirable to see the seamless digital transition of this contest that has become an edutainment platform for students across the country. We were awestruck with the curiosity and brilliance that these students displayed, which will take them far ahead in their careers and lives.

The quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam aka Pickbrain, presented the quiz with exuberance and vibrancy throughout the 5 rounds namely, Digital Readiness, Borderless Learning, Analytics and Insights, Multi Experience and @TCS. This year, TCS IT Wiz saw some engaging questions that created the perfect edutainment ambiance, and kept participants and the audience at the edge of their seats. The questions ranged from what the internet craze ‘Twipping’ is, the ‘mistake’ that was Ctrl-Alt-Del by Bill Gates, to naming the inventor, who apologized for his invention of the internet’s original sin – pop up ads – Ethan Zuckerman.
